Great Philanthropy Deserves Great Storytelling
Media relations and storytelling for athletes, sports organizations, and sports-adjacent non-profits. Nearly 25 years experience helping people highlight the good in the game.
Athletes and sports organizations doing charitable work often run into the same problem: limited time and capacity makes it difficult to form media relationships, align messaging, and conduct professional outreach. Without focused communications support, the good you are doing is too often unseen, underfunded, and undersupported.

About J. Carr Communications
I’ve reached this point in my career having worked with athletes, front offices, and media across professional sports, including 18 seasons with the Chicago Cubs. That experience gives me relationships, context, and institutional knowledge that I want to use to help others tell their stories. Writing is a core part of what I do, and something I genuinely enjoy. In this role, I absorb your voice, your recurring themes, and your perspective on the work you care about. The result is a product that aligns with your goals. I enjoy collaborating, building relationships with new people, and deepening existing ones. Whether it’s learning about a new project or reaching out to a media person with a pitch, I’m very comfortable interacting and making new connections. Both personally and professionally, honesty is paramount to me. I’ll never inflate claims or say something simply to placate someone. If a story is not ready, I will say so and help you get it there.
